Do you like to go camping? For those interested in an exciting outdoor adventure in the cooler weather, winter camping may be the choice for you. Winter camping brings an entirely new element to the activity of camping. Not only do you see the great outdoors in a totally different light, it also offers different challenges from summer camping. Well, technically May/June would be pretty good too since it is further from Fall, but regardless. Maybe you like summer camp, but now winter camp is also very popular all over the world. You should learn to use the cold, snowy winter to your advantage instead of a means for depression. One thing I learned years ago, is the more it snows, the happier it is for me. Your probably thinking this person is a lot different then I am, aren’t you? Will, that is what makes folks like we are, were all humans but we all have different likes and dislikes. Thousand of people love going camping every year, and when I was younger and lived with my parents and brother, we would all get together and go camping together. There was nothing as exciting and fun as camping. You could take a tent to sleep in, or stay inside in a camper or other vehicle at night, but being in a tent seemed to be the best. We would always sleep on folding cots, and cover up with blankets.

If you do not have a tent you may be able to build a snow shelter for protection, however, you’ll want to practice building a snow shelter before you actually need to spend a night in one during a winter hike. Winter-weight camping tents can be purchased, although sometimes they can be heavier to carry. Depending on where you are going and how far you are hiking, you may be quite comfortable in a three-season tent. A four-season or winter tent will stand up to strong winds, will repel all forms of precipitation and be able to withstand a heavy fall of snow.

Make sure to bring a sleeping bag that is made to withstand the deep freeze of winter. There are many mummy-type bags that are extremely warm and designed to withstand temperatures of 10 degrees and below. A foam underlay may also be a useful addition to keep the sleeping bag off the ground and away from moisture. The pad can also be used to sit on during the day.

Winter Camping is as wild as its gets; it is hard, cold and has risks. 3. Bring additional blankets. Place those blankets under the sleeping bag and you can put some over it also. Those extra layers will give some insulation from the cold ground.

4. Have some hot sleeping gear. You need some clothes that are easy to sleep in but that can also keep the warmth during the night, wool hat and some polyester works well.

5. Never let any of your clothe get wet. Once they are wet they will take a lot of time to dry and if you don’t have spare pieces, you will freeze badly.

7. Tent: get a 4 season tent. If not you are taking risks, you would need to bring extra blanket to compensate.

8. Have a pair of gloves that offer manoeuvrability. Nothing is as frustrating as taking off your gloves because you are unable to do some tasks with it. You will lose heath, and might drop the gloves in snow.

9. Always have some spare wood in your tent that you keep dry. You might need it for whatever reason and it is a wise precaution to have some wood that is ready to burn really fast.

10. Have more than less hot food and liquid and reserves. If you hit a storm and are stuck in the tent without provision, it is bad…
